Under the supervision of the Holy Spirit, Dr. McAllister instructs, nourishes, encourages, and equips the people of God to grow stronger and deeper in their walk with Christ. He provides leadership for a diversity of opportunities to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Word of God, to follow God’s teachings, and to grow and support one another in the faith.

Conducts Bible study twice weekly and Prayer meeting once a week.

Provides for continuous progress of spiritual growth through a comprehensive Church School curriculum that offers instruction for the understanding and application of God’s Word. The variety of classes designed for mature and young adults, college students, teenagers, adolescents, primary, and pre-school

students are conducted by prepared, Spirit-led teachers.

Conducts an annual Vacation Bible School for members of the church and community that provides spiritual, educational, and personal growth through Bible teaching, creative arts, and physical fitness, and facilitates discussion of relevant social issues for young people and adults.

Prioritizes the spiritual growth and Christian fellowship of young people through a strong, viable Youth Ministry that includes YPD, Youth Choirs, a Youth Usher Board, Children’s Church and other organizations designed to prepare young people for a life-long relationship with Christ. Provides for and encourages the participation of young people in Christian education programs on the local, conference and episcopal levels of the Connection.

With a mastery of knowledge gleaned from extensive formal biblical/ theological research and teaching experience, Dr. McAllister prioritizes Christian Stewardship, teaching the biblical basis and rewards for the faithful giving back of God’s gifts, and that stewardship is evidence of a Christian’s faith and an integral part of Christian commitment and responsibility.

Dr. McAllister’s Shepherd leadership was clearly demonstrated at Payne Chapel AME Church in Chicago Heights, IL, his first ministerial appointment, where he placed special emphasis on the spiritual growth of his members.

The church flourished; and during his three-year tenure, membership doubled and tithes and offerings tripled.
